Pick 3 songs - your best ones, or the easiest songs whatever and get around the open mics. Join a songwriters group near you. When you perform, look at a spot just above the audiences' head at the back, that way you look like you're making eye contact with them but you don't have to look at them. Accept that it's never going to be perfect.
