With a hollow neck, I wonder how that resonance affects the sound.  How about a carbon fiber composite guitar?  It shouldn't shatter if you drop it.

Somewhere on one of the 16 spare hard drives I have, is a picture and an article about a guitar with
a stone body. Granite, if memory serves correctly. Light. Only weighs 35 pounds. And it is playable.

Here's a nice one with a stone body.



Great guitar to have if you're playing at a club that terrorists are likely to target.
It will stop small arms fire. Not so much for explosives.
