I am mortified over the amp and sheer numbers of guitar pedals I have recently acquired. It is a disease.

I am always thankful that this hobby is so low cost - just think how much you can spend if your are into cars, or golf or play brass instruments. You can buy a guitar and a micro BR for a few hundred quid, and that can last you a lifeime. I'm guilty of wanting just one more little pedal :-) but hey, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy right?? I say, go with the flow - do what makes you happy, once you've sorted everthing else out, what is left over is fair game???. Enjoy life, enjoy your guitars. Went to Warwick castle yesterday (brilliant historic place, the firing of the trebuchet was bloody magic) - and the archer descibed his bow as his 'beloved' as it fed him and saved his life in Medieval times - just a thought :-)

I must say I love Warwick castle. For those of you who don't know - its a historic moment going back to the 10 century, but owned by the owners of a theme park and who also own Tussaud's of wax work fame - so combines all 3 in one place. Super cool.

This is in the victorian wing - me hanging out with the posh folk :-)

If I did I would like a more mixer type console with the software.
I don't realy like the plug in box type.
I like the hands on slider type.

Here's another option to consider. A keyboard controller with DAW controls that are pre-configured for many popular DAWs - Bitwig, Cubase, Digital Performer, FL Studio, GarageBand, Logic, Nuendo, Reaper, Reason, Sonar and Studio One. After the initial installation, you never have to worry about mapping controls. Just start up your DAW and start recording your music.

It's only $199.99/Euro 179.99/GBP139.99 for the 49-key version and it comes with an 8-track version of Bitwig to get you started.

The faders are a bit small, but there are nine of them, allowing you to instantly adjust levels of 8 tracks plus the master level. And they can be used for other purposes too. There are dedicated buttons for Mixer, Instrument and Preset. When you press the Instrument button, the 9 faders are mapped to two ADSR envelopes of the currently-selected soft-synth in the DAW. When you press the Mixer button, all nine faders are instantly mapped back to track levels again. So it's really quick and easy to go back and forth between synth adjustments and track level adjustments.

And you're not limited to 8 tracks. You can switch between track banks to select which 8 tracks the faders will control. So you can control as many tracks as your DAW supports. The included limited version of Bitwig only supports 8 tracks, but the full version of Bitwig supports an unlimited number of tracks, as do most other DAWs in their full (non-limited) versions.

Pretty cool keyboard controller for the money. And a great way to make the adjustment from hardware recorder to software DAW, without giving up the hands-on control of faders, knobs, and switches.

Apparently, my run of financial irresponsibility isn't over. Went into a shop today to return something, and then this happened. Not the exact guitar, but it might as well be as it looks just like it. P-90's and a Bigsby? Its siren song dashed me on the rocks...
