I'm beginning to think I might be ill! I don't know what's happened to me! My wife has just had a big-ish payout from her ex-employer as an out of court settlement for stuff they put her through (I could tell you more, but I'd have to kill you - they made her sign a gagging clause). Anyway... this is money that has to last until another job comes along, but she said "why don't we each treat ourselves to something?" She bought a new laptop for £250 & I was allowed to spend the same on a new guitar... couldn't find a single thing I wanted.

Strat? Got one already.

Tele? Got one already.

Les Paul? Got one already.

Acoustic? Used to have one & sold it 'cos it didn't get played.

Semi-acoustic? Used to have one & sold it 'cos it didn't get played.

New pedal? All the sounds I need are already there in the Tonelab.

In the end, I went to Cash Converters & bought a used netbook for £70 to use when I'm not near the office PC. No idea what I want to spend the rest on & I don't want to blow money for the sake of it so it'll just end up getting spent on a gas bill or similar.

Never thought I'd see the day when I turn down the chance of a new guitar. What IS wrong with me?

Always shied away from that kind of instrument, as I always think of it as an accompaniment for singing... which I REALLY can't do & therefore didn't imagine I'd have any use for one. Might be interesting to have a go though... definitely curious as I've just seen how cheap they can be bought. Hmmmm.....

This was a good little purchase I think...





A USB Audiobox I got from ebay, second hand for £39 stg (+£12 postage - that was the bugger).

I got this for recording guitar and vocals at the same time - never tried it before... in fact never been able to do it before recording or otherwise...

But the little thing works perfectly and doesn't need to be plugged in either, seems to just get its power from the iMac USB port. Is this called "Phantom Power"?? (I guess its normal these days, I don't really folow the tech world too much)

Anyway it has a few knobs on the front and an extra LED light for added coolness, so gotta be worth it!!

It's supposedly a cross between a ukulele and a violin. I've seen them on craigslist in tampa asking for stupid money ($100 +) but I can pass  it up.

Mike- Phantom power is what powers condenser mikes, not exactly sure what it is but that's what it does.
