Get well soon, and drink all of Jame's whiskey. Show him how it's done.

Thanks for the update Bruce - give John all my best and hopefully he can feel a little more comfortable sooner rather than later. Not great but thankfully it wasn't worse.

Thank you for all of the kind sentiments. I hope to be out of this hospital soon. It's hard to sleep here. Through this experience I've learned a few things:

Cars are hard
Pavement is hard too
Distracted drivers don't pay attention
Opiates make it hard to shit
Some doctors are better than others
Some visitors don't know when to leave

I'm sorry I couldn't do better than this, but distracted typists have a hard time paying attention.

John,

I make sure to wear that magical protective Lycra, you know the stuff, batman's pants are made of it, whenever I'm out on my bike.

I have never hurt myself ever, except  for a broken shoulder but that was a mountain biking incident.

Oh, and the time I fell off in front of a bus and stuck my brake lever into my wrist and contracted impressive gravel rash on my forearms, and the time I rode over polished concrete in the wet - that produced a fabulous bruise, but other than that the Lycra has saved me from everything bad and has the added benefit that it makes me look like a porpoise.

Wear the Lycra.

And a hat.

I find that LSD is far better than opiates, and cycling on LSD is something that everyone should experience at least once.

I found that the only time I could sleep when I was in hospital was when I had visitors, which pissed them off, I know.

What you're suffering with though sounds horrible, and just out of the blue.  Never can tell with life.  I feel for you.

No more chocolate milkshakes for you.

John sent me some special images of his stay, one where I'm sure you'be be convinced he was in some sort of psych ward, but my phone isn't cooperating. For now, you'll just have to use your collective imagination.

He had to spend last night there, but things are looking positive for his release today. His fear of handlebar baskets with daisies on them may linger a bit longer.

Bloody Hell! What a horrible thing to happen! Here's wishing you well, mate! Get well soon, pal!

I broke two ribs playing rugby.  I stopped playing rugby.  I think this is wise.

I also broke a finger falling off a bicycle.  I stopped riding bikes.  I think this is wise.

Good to hear that you should be sent home soon.
