Edit from 6/23 - John sent me some special images of his stay, one where I'm sure you'be be convinced he was in some sort of psych ward, but my phone isn't cooperating. For now, you'll just have to use your collective imagination.

He had to spend last night there, but things are looking positive for his release today. His fear of handlebar baskets with daisies on them may linger a bit longer.

Edit from 6/21 - Visited John tonight at the hospital. He has three fractured ribs and another four with clean breaks. His right lung was punctured, and the bridge of his nose is broken. This is on top of various stitches and road rash. The upside is that his prognosis is good. One rib needs to be watched as it heals, and the drain for his lung is showing enough improvement that it may be removed tomorrow. He has some sort of morphine drip that he can initiate with a push button. It was like he was playing castanets, but that may because his neighbor's cat ate his poppy plants (untrue yet somehow funny).

Just got a text from John's wife. He was struck by a car toady while he was on his bike. He's still in the emergency room, so not a great deal of news at this point. He is lucid (for John anyway), and they are examining his ribs and a shoulder. I asked about visitation, and she wrote that John is requesting Black Bush Irish whiskey. I'd say that's a good sign.

I figure he could use some cheering up.
