Visited John tonight at the hospital. He has three fractured ribs and another four with clean breaks. His right lung was punctured, and the bridge of his nose is broken. This is on top of various stitches and road rash. The upside is that his prognosis is good. One rib needs to be watched as it heals, and the drain for his lung is showing enough improvement that it may be removed tomorrow. He has some sort of morphine drip that he can initiate with a push button. It was like he was playing castanets, but that may because his neighbor's cat ate his poppy plants (untrue yet somehow funny).

Will update when I know more.

Ouch!

 i once cracked one rib playing rugby in the early hours with an empty coke can on the meadows in Edinburgh city centre after a heavy drinking session with some friends.

i made the mistake of pretending to pass the can to my friend and laughing at two drunken scottish internationals for being smart and fooling them,  only to have them leap on me from an impossible distance and crack one of my ribs.

My injuries where minor compared to yours.So  i can only just begin to imagine the pain you are in John.


so i'll send you a virtual hug.

on second thoughts maybe that is not such a good idea.
