i got out the £10 acoustic and came up with a riff and lyric quite quickly. my original intention was to do a live in the living room recording to my microbr. however my br800 was out so i thought i would try out a multitrack recording on that.

i really struggled using the onboard mics as they picked up every noise, anyway. i recorded the guitar part twice to two separate mono tracks, just playing the same thing each time. i panned them fully left and right and ramped up the reverb to max using the ambient setting which threw in a few unintentional ghosts in the machine, but they seem to work, then i recorded a mono vocal with little or no effects. so three tracks in total so much for multitracking.

anyway it is what it is.

you hanker for the good old days
when you thought you knew what was what
but you hankered for them way back when
you can't stop the clock
you say you want to take back control
of what i do not know
you're a big ole rock in the stream
why can't you go with the flow
you're never gonna change your mind
you know i change mine all the time
you're so set in your ways
you never ever coped with change
and everything you read and see
only reinforces your fears
and your firm in your beliefs
you need to get out more
afraid of what you do not know
cos somebody told you so
the ones who are in control
just carry on regardless
Carry On Regardless

Man I really did this one brother, if I had any time I would love to add on to this but I'm very under the gun...or so it feels. As always I dig the ethereal dreamyness and you lyrics here are so relatable, well done.
Rock on!

A very sweet, dreamy song for such a momentous subject. I like the contrast it gives, like light and shade.

The simplicity works a treat, and the lyrics are outstanding.

What a great performance too.

Fingers crossed we get the right result this week!

i am really worried as all rational thinking seems to have gone out the window, i have had friends on facebook de-friend me for pointing out that things they have shared on facebook as having originated from dodgy and unreliable sources like "britain first" posting downright lies as truth.

as a result people get in a bubble of only mixing with people who agree with them. so when presented with irrefutable proof that what they believe to be true is a lie, it becomes a conspiracy against their cause.

we are going to hell in a hand cart.

Totally agree with all of that. Rationality has gone out of the window.

The "you say you want to take back control" bit of the lyric is so apt. It's all I hear and see - stupid little phrases like that repeated ad nauseam with no understanding of what it means. Also, I could never vote for anything that Britain First and neo-nazi parties are in favour of.

I'd like to think we're more open minded on here because we understand the spirit, brotherhood and benefit of collaboration across nations.

It would be really cool if everyone could just accept that I'm right.
