Joe Strummer and other Recommendations?

Greeting, all.

I skipped punk in my youth. Around its peak, I'm sure I was hidden away with Tales from Topographic Oceans as well as my Mahavishnu albums. Between the musical influence from this site as well as a guy who books music at a local venue, I have found myself liking some of the punk I hear..both the angry and some of the poppy.

I'm curious if a few of you in the know can recommend some punk albums for a neophyte. Yes, I know I can pull up any random list via the web, but I'd rather hear about albums that were important in your youth.

I'm also digging Joe Strummer's post-Clash stuff that I've heard. Could somebody recommend a starting point on that front as well?

Thanks in advance.

Stranglers "Rattus Norvegicus", and "No More Hero's" - some claimed they weren't really a punk band, but I think so.

The Sex Pistols were the band that first broke punk with "Anarchy In the UK".

For modern angry - but accessible music listen to Frank Turner (folk . He also plays in a band called Mongel Horde which is hard core, but great :-)

Gil grew up more with Punk - so he recommends
- The Wipers "over the edge" (Seattle - influenced Dave Grohl)
- Stiff Little Fingers - lots to choose from (UK)
- Floggin Molly - "Devils dance floor" (Irish punk) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPaz0p2dpEk&list=PL4D-XyPMbyjDBtmFo5BwIj-g3CjIspPiJ
- Huskadu (American Punk) Dont want to know if you are lonely (track)
- Fugazi - "Merchandise"
- Richard Hell - "Baby Huey"
- Naked Raygun - "Soldiers Requiem"
- Propaganda and Information Network - "British Justice"
- Bad Brains - "Sail On"
- The Pogues - lots again to choose from - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Lw9545dCM

Lots of styles available. ....
