The 50's Rock & Roll Fest got me thinking about this, my favorite Buddy Holly song. I think I knew of a cover version by a Kenyan band before I knew the original.

Yeah... I'll second that emotion. Love that (fretless?) bass break... it really adds a touch of "Graceland" era Paul Simon to it. An excellent cover, mate! Bravo!

Well, this was recorded in Africa. And yes, that's a fretless bass. I though it might be easier to play if I did those breaks on bass -- but that thought occurred to me when I hadn't listened to the original very carefully. I ended up having to do "hard" parts on ukulele anyway.

Thanks.

Beautiful work, Ted. This has a really fresh and lovely vibe. Dig that fruity fretless bass!

Thanks for the bump.

I noticed that Elliot Easton quotes "Words of Love" at the end of "My Best Friend's Girl."
