Even though, I'm not a big "shred" fan, I have a lot of time for this bloke... he's such a great player & so knowledgeable. His enthusiasm is infectious and it's rare for me to hear him talk on any subject and not end up inspired. I'm not going to buy a kazoo though  ;D

It does make me think about putting the guitar down to write more often... I used to do this all the time: come up with a chord sequence & then use the piano roll to drag & drop notes around until I had a melody that I probably wouldn't have stumbled upon on the guitar.

That's an option I suppose  ;D

Talking of an electric kazoo, just for a laugh I googled "midi spoons" to see if anyone had built a plug in for the skiffle musician's favourite percussion instrument. Came across this...

I spent 3 weeks learning the spoons for a casting - minimum 1 hour a day - drove my family scatty and didn't get the part . . .

I actually never heard of this guy before, but I like the way he comes across in this video.

I am not a very natural soloist -- I almost never solo, and when I do, they are almost never improvised. So I really get the idea of soloing on kazoo. Occasionally I will hum my solos and melodic ideas before I try to figure them out on an instrument. I'm usually surprised at how straightforward they are; somehow my hands would have overcomplicated them.
