This tune began as the verse chord sequence: Em Bm C D Em Am Em Cmj7 B7

I tried doing an instrumental tune based on this & got it to the point where it was pretty much finished. Then I listened back to it and to my ears it just sounded stale... like I was going through the motions. Slept on it & listened again the next day and came to the same conclusion. Nothing for it but to hit the DELETE button.

Then Kenny asked me if I had any original tunes that needed a vocal, so I sent him a strummy guitar version of the basic chords & he said he'd love to do something with it. I worked it up into a full "Verse+Chorus+Middle 8" backer & sent it to him, and this is what he did with it.

Got to say I'm overjoyed with the result... Kenny's excellent lyrics & vocal have rescued a track I had all but given up on. Cheers Kenny!

Equipment wise... it's the usual stuff:

Rhythm Guitars - tele panned L/R
Lead Guitar - tele
No-name bass
Cakewalk SI drum
ORGANised VST

... and the ever present Vox Tonelab.

I just can't retrieve the missing pieces
Of this lovers jigsaw yeh as they fall
I just couldn't see the signs and the writing that was a   painted so clearly on the wall
I could try and make it right
but I don't care
I could try and work it out
But I don't care anymore
All the words you screamed out to me
HIT Me like a storm
I just can't believe how fast love faded
Just what went wrong?
I could find the words to say
But I don't care about it
I could try and find a way
But I don't care Yeh
I could try and make it right
But I don't care about it
I can't find the strength to fight
No I don't care
The feelings disappeared so fast it    corroded into rust
All that's left are broken memory's and a pile of dust

For some reason, Cmaj7 in the open position is my favorite chords these days.

Really well put together. Lots of great things in here. Organ sounds great, lovely drop out after the first solo, cool modulation, and the chorus is catchy as hell. The end with the harmonized run caught me out (in a good way) and I love that last little "woo-hoo" to close it out.

Really nice collaboration.

Yeah this rocks... its funny how tracks can work out sometimes. Sometimes they just need the slightest thing to bring them to life.

Kenny vocals are great and really help this great track shine.

Strong song guys.

Thanks chaps! I'm really proud of this one & I think Kenny should give himself a big pat on the back too - brilliant vocal melody & such a strong chorus hook!

Thanks James... Cakewalk Studio Instruments Drums with the "Slight Beef" preset kit, then Cakewalk's "Tiled Room" reverb on the drum track. Here's how I put a drum part together:

An excellent collaboration. It oozes with confidence, and that chorus really flies. The solo is a real beauty too. But what really steals the show is the key change and mad stuff at the end - superb!
