i haven't used my capo for ages but have used it quite a bit to get different sounds from my guitars, saying that i used the capo on my bass guitar last night for a song i'm working on.

I keep a capo on all my guitars, partial to the Dunlop ones myself. It's saved my voice on many a nights. Being a baritone, I'm not really fit for most popular and classic hits in the original keys. I try to find the right key (often with the capo) for my voice but a after a 2 sets with one more to go, I could be hurting.
If I don't think I can hit the notes in a tune with no capo, I capo on the 5th fret and it drops it to where I can sing with power and save my voice a bit.
I have also used it similarly to Johnny to thickin recordings with multiple voicing of chords. You can create a cool Johnny Marr vibe by layering 4 or 5 guitars playing the same progression just with capos.

We do a lot of acoustic sets so my capo lives on the 1st and 3rd fret two reasons my limited vocal range lol and one playing in standard tuning the other person can set up harmony parts with the capo. Always enjoy your teaching vids and Blogs Much appreciated and thanks John

Glad you chaps enjoy them! To be honest... it's naked self interest, really. I always link back to my website from the blog & the more incoming links a site has, the better it does in a Google search (apparently).
