This started as a drum track, much like the jazz pieces I've done lately. It's programmed in DM-1 drum machine, recorded to GarageBand.  The bass is GB upright bass. I was stressing over doing the piano in GB but I realised it would be simple in ThumbJam; I set that to Minor Blues and then tinkled up and down.

The vocal next was recorded on my iPhone mic into the Rock'n'roll amp sim in GB, mostly to get a good slap back echo. I doubled it onto a clean mic track to add some weight.

The guitar is my Tokai Breezysound (Tele) on neck pickup and recorded into the same Rock'n'roll amp sim using my Apogee JAM interface.

I've made a mono mix, too, for authenticity which I may post. Haven't really had a chance to compared the two yet though.

Thanks for the info. Again, I dug the hell out of this.

it s excellent !

...I shall not dare to make another version
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I really dig the effort you've gone to to get 'that' sound. It's a fine performance and a fine piece of work. The arrangement is spot on. It's weird how we use digital technology to revert back to primitive analogue sounds, but it needs to be done sometimes!

Excellent stuff.

Brilliant stuff, Nick.  The piano is inspired, however you played it.  Great version.

Are you fricken' kidding me? :D Wow!

The piano, guitars, and bass sound totally vintage, and the arrangement seems to mind's ear to be identical to the original, or at least completely in line with what a 50s rock & roll record would have sounded like.

Authentic.
