I was laid off a couple months back. My wife, 3 cats, Interviews, resumes, Keeping the house spotless, Guitar, are done all in that order. ;D

I work at a group benefits broker and deal mostly with medical insurance. It's a 9-5 desk job with some downtime so chatting in here keeps my mind active and keeps me up to date with all the neat tips and tricks for using my MBR. I'm pretty much a newbie myself with recording in general but I find that sharing what I've learned helps me to retain and modify my new found techniques and really lock it in for me.

Believe me, I'd rather work in audio recording but my job pays the bills and is generally quite comfortable so i cant complain. We all know what we would do if we hit the lottery jackpot...

I work from home in an IT consulting type role. Work day is basically 8:30 to 6:30 but often includes some bits of evenings and weekends. I have to travel quite a lot as well. But working from home allows me to have postings from here on in the background (I have to do quite a lot of writing and "thinking" so I always have music on when I am not on conference calls), with the idea being I catch up on posting comments later. But it's quite nice to take a break in the day and post a few comments or read some threads.

I don't have much time to make music, mostly it's from 10 to 12 at night if I'm not doing other things (no, not those other things, I'm too old and too married). But I have made more time since being on here, altho I am still very slow in producing anything. I'm a bit obsessive and anal about everything so I probably spend far too long fiddling about rather than just throwing stuff down.

Cheers,

I.m a trucker and have been for 23 years start a six and usually finish between 4 and 5 try to get some recording done after 7 when the wife is watching soaps and cookery programmes. Was married before and have two kids who have more or less grown up, only got married again oct 2007. My wife is really quite supportive in the music department and listens to all my tunes and she ALAWAYS says there good, so it was great to find this site where you can get some decent feedback and it,s really helped me in the recording department as this the first time I,ve ever used any sort of recording equipment.

Hm... Is this stupid of me writing in this post?

I thinks so, but what the hell :) Yes i do work, i'm this guy who caries around matter in my local matter-store, I'm just wondering around looking like a guy that has nothing to live for until i get off my shift. But it pays half decent, and the people i work with are quite nice, so thats all right. But I'm in high school, no even better DANSIH high school, that means NO homework at all, so i have plenty of time to play guitar :)

And oh, what a day you have there !  :o Could never do that!
If you loose track over a chord progression, play as fast as you possibly can. Nobody will know. Thats how they invented bebop.

omg....You lucky, lucky son of......:p

Well, my story is pretty lame to be honest...I'm in my last year of high-school and I'm about to take my final exams......therefore, theoretically I shouldn't have been on this site over Easter...but we all need a break from revision..right,right??:D

At the moment I'm addicted to the site and my head is buzzing with idedas but I won't be very active for while due to insane amount of work that I'm getting....hopefully after the summer I will be able to get back to some lick-making......

OH Ojimmi You floored me.  My question wasn't really so much about what one does. AND you answered great.  But how does everyone manage!!.. I'm glad I am not the only one that just gets lost in the process.  Of course  I guess I could get up at 3 a.m. That is my most productive time. LOL  You guys and your late nights.  I am sleeping away. LOL.  But is fun listening to everyone.  Guess I was just a little overwhelmed last night.  I will try and get a post up this weekend. LOL Have fun guys.

And trotters5  thats my problem my head just buzzs with ideas and can't get anywhere. :)

I'd love to know how to manage time better myself.  I'm an assistant principal at a middle school and enjoy it, but beyond work and its peripheral duties, I am spent.  I think that's why I tend to show up at this site and then quietly vanish for a bit, only to repeat the cycle.

I'm sure I speak for others when I say I enjoy this site so much because it provides a respite from the daily mish-mash.  I do wish there were a few more hours in the day, though.

But I bought a new music toy (samash.com be damned!), and I have some time on Saturday, so there will be musical deviltry afoot!

Peace.

Quote from: Satchwood on April 23, 2009, 09:47:39 AMI'm a design engineer by day and a guitar-music enthusiast by night.  I've played in a few bands, but now I'm kind of digging just composing.  Once I get a few tunes, I'll probably want to form a band again.

I also do most of my recording late at night and on weekends.  I often check in on the forum through-out the day (during breaks of course).

Replace design with process above and that's exactly what I would have written  :D

Sometimes I dream of another life .... with more time to music ... writing ... performing ... listening .... ... but hey : not bad what I've got now either  :) :) :) :) :)
