hey guys..before i put the brakes on my "sell all gear" phase, i sold my two resonators..a Rogue Spider and a Rogue brass bodied rez. Not high end stuff but well built and very affordable. Just wasn't playing them. Later, i listened to the few songs i had done with them and i think they are some of my best. Needless to say, i regretted the sale..but still had the money and decided to upgrade to a new rez. After alot of research, i decided on this:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GrchResRnd

I really love this rez. It's build quality is excellent and it's tone is just what i was looking for (all mahogany). At Sweetwater.com, you can actually look at hi resolution pics (and specs) of the exact guitar by serial #. Cool. Next best thing to playing them in person.

I have yet to write and record a solo song with it, but it'll be soon i hope. Meanwhile, i have teamed it up with my new Merlin in a song inspired by some recent severe flooding down south. The Merlin is tuned D-A-CC for a real minor sound.
See what ya think...

THERE ONCE WAS A MAN, HIS NAME WAS SILAS CAIN
GOT DOWN ON HIS KNEES AND PRAYED FOR RAIN
WELL THE RAIN IT CAME, AND LORD IT WOULDN'T STOP
RIVER KEPT A RISIN', AND WASHED AWAY HIS CROPS

WELL THE RIVER TOOK HIS BARN, AS HE LED HIS MULE AWAY
TORE HIS LITTLE HOUSE APART, LOST IT ALL THAT DAY
SILAS HAD NO MONEY, HAD NO BACK UP PLAN
HE WAS JUST A POOR HARD WORKIN' FARMIN' MAN

SILAS CAIN, STOOD OUT IN THE RAIN, AS THE RIVER SWALLOWED UP HIS FARM
HE SAID "DEAR LORD, YA KNOW I CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE EVERYTHING THIS WAY"

SILAS SAID, "WHATEVER YA DO, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR 'CUZ IT MIGHT COME TRUE"

I think it's great! Love the sound of the Gretsch rezo and Merlin together - with the vocals, fiddle, and bass it adds up to one cool old-timey tune.

Nice one, Pine!

Great sounding instruments and your voice is just spot on!

Might have to try a resonator......

I like it Pine! The new resonator sounds great. The lyric tells a good story and ends with words to the wise "careful what you wish for". Well done on all accounts!
