Well it's springtime and I always do this song for work (I have to sing it over 50 times this week!) and it gave me the perfect reason to continue my mid-life crisis and buy this Kala Resonator Tenor Uke.

It plays amazingly and It's quite loud which is what I needed. I usually lead my classes (more of a show & a lesson) with an acoustic guitar & any time I've used a uke it's just a little too quite...not anymore.
The original version of this was done in 1929 by Nick Lucas for the movie Gold Diggers Of Broadway, there are some great youtube clips of it. Of course Tiny Tim covered it in 1968. I thought I did  version of this before but nothing came up when I searched the site.

This was a ton of fun to listen to...I didn't expect you to reach up high, but you did and you pulled it off nicely! The new uke sounds great, too!

Guilty secret confession time: I have been a Tiny Tim fan on and off through the years. I knew who he was in the late 60s/early 70s when he was on TV a lot. This was one song of his that I knew by heart as a kid, and he was a helluva showman back in those days. And then I went through another phase of fandom when I got my first uke in 2008. Good times.

Anyway, tiptoe on!

Brilliant Tim, sorry Hook,
This takes me back, I always think of Top of The pops, all the pop groups would be on and then Tiny Tim :D
Great cover you can certainly get the high notes,

Wow - that uke's a thing of beauty!

Sounds strange in an American accent to me.

I used to have it in my act too  ::) :o ;D

Ha! Tiptoe Through The Tulips ala Tiny Tim style! Well done on those ultra high vocals Hook. Listening to your kazoo I just realized how much a person's vocal inflections and tone come through loud and clear. I could have heard the kazoo without knowing it was you and I would know it was you...ha that's a mouthful. The uke sounds nice and loud. A great cover of Tiny's Tulip song!

Great stuff. I'm sure Herbert would've been suitably impressed.
Keep On Tiptoeing.  ;D

Blimey... you took me by surprise with that vocal delivery. You express yourself with such great freedom and for that i applaud you. I really like what you have done here, there is something lovely about the melody also beneath the quirky delivery you have given it. Great stuff Hook.

The only version of this that I know is from a "SingalongaMax" LP by Max Bygraves that my granny used to play all the time. This version is erm... "different" from that. Shades of the wonderful Viv Stanshall & the Bonzo Dog DooDah Band, especially with the kazoo. Were you breathing helium to get your voice that high?

A unique & fantastically mad take on a song that brings back memories of my childhood. I LOVE it!!!
