i have had a busy life of late and little or no time for making music. so i have a lot of catching up to do here.

this one is for Alfredo, the lyric is inspired by a lot of random coincidences much too complicated to go into here.

anyway i have had this wee riff for a week or so but no chance to record it or put a lyric to it.

the guitars have a capo on the fourth fret but only on the top four strings, the two skinny strings had no capo (does that make sense).

anyway i got out the br800, plugged in my woolies strat for one track (is mixed to the left),

i then plugged in my jasmine electro acoustic and recorded same riff (mixed to the right).

then using a built in effect on the br800 i turned the jasmine into a bass guitar.( i think the effect is called loose bass and it drops guitar an octave for bass efffect)

drums are a standard pop loop on br800.

vocals where recorded using my microbr as a mic via the line in.

Five degrees of separation no longer applies
there's always random acts of chance
that feel like they're planned
throw confetti up in the air
let's have a parade with nobody there
against all the odds
we're standing here
same time same place
you can crunch all the numbers till you're blue in the face
but you can't work it out
so let's have a party with nobody here
if you join up the dots
with a line straight through
you'll start seeing patterns
that are really not there
throw confetti up in the air
let's have a parade with nobody there
against all the odds
we're standing here
same time same place
you can crunch all the numbers till you're blue in the face
but you can't work it out

The reason I only do instrumental stuff is because a) I can't sing and b) I could never write lyrics as good as this. This is utterly gorgeous. Stunning production & performance of a beautifully written song. Bravo!

This is just great song, James! Fine feeling on this - the music/performance works well with the lyric!

I can hear a night club atmosphere here...the late night feel.

Liked the bass line, too. On some spots (on the left) I can hear piano...ghost in the machine...?

Fine job!

Very nice tune, J.  I would up the bass/bass strings you're using a bit - sure love how you complimented the steel strings with the bass riffs, and well the voice and the lyrics are always spot on.  downloaded.....

Great lyrics there James. The whole tune is very thought provoking.

Your unusual capo application certainly give it a vibe that kind of matches the lyrics, which you sing well.

Creative song.... well done!

Thanks James,

you made a really great song, and by some degree I can get into the meaning of the lyrics.

Yes.

cheers guys, i think this one needs a remix, as i mixed with crap headphones, so song sounds different in headphones and car stereo etc. gonna try a remix using pc monitors when i get a chance and maybe add some keys.

Kari no piano on it so must be that ghost in the machine right enough.
