It was a my long-time dream, to make a cover of this one...  :)

...so thanks, James!  :D

Technical data:

4 different takes of acoustic guitar (Martin DCPA4)

bass - drums: BIAB backing tracks

Highland pipes: the piper (Alf McStone  ::) ) plays a Godin Freeway SA electric guitar equipped with a Fishman TriplePlay driving a specialized Kontakt library.

Enjoy!

 :)

I was expecting to dislike this, I never liked maccas song, a millionaire dude from Liverpool pretending that Scotland was his first and dying love. I felt uneasy about it and anyway there were better things to listen to back then.

But.... I really liked this. And I liked the way it was put together. The single guitar and voice which had the intimate sound and feel suddenly given all the space to breathe and expand.

The godin and the synth make authentic sounding pipes.

Nice one. Bravo fellas.
We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you any different

thank's Alfredo......for turning me on to a song i actually really really hated.

i always thought it was simplistic tosh, then i tried to sing the bugger.

i really enjoyed doing this and it was a chance to use my br800 for multiple vocals, i think there was 4 backing vocals and one lead. so apologies to folk i had plans with as this took up a bit more time than planned.

and i only had the vocals to do.

gaun yersel Herr Doktor, that must have taken some doing.

and is a fab mix too.

Like Flash and ORH I never liked the original but this is a lovely cover - really enjoyed this.

I always remember my old Aunt Irene saying 'that's a good song - Mother Kintyre' when it was first out !

I clicked on it with some trepidation (I too can't bear the original) but Messrs McStone and Head pulled it out of the bag, as usual.

LOL  :D

This was really a big surprise to me, I didn't expect we were going to cover probably one of the most disliked songs of the last decades...  :D

Anyway, this shows how much different are the perspectives looking at a *folk-inspired song* of a land "from a different place", such as in my situation.
I mean, I can understand the situation. I remember some years ago I proposed to James a folk song (...don't remember which one...), but he explained me that it was rather offensive and full of unpleasant clichèes...and I didn't notice...

Here too there are some *pseudo-folkie* Italian songs that are hated by most Italians...

Well, I've learned something new this evening!  :D

Alfredo

P.S...even more, thanks for your appreciation of the cover!!!  :)
