So what would be a situation where I would use the Bounce mode?  Do I need to worry about it at all if I transfer everything I make onto the computer to keep?

Not really. Bounce mode is used when you've used all 4 tracks on v1 and want to have more tracks. You can then mix those 4 to 1 or 2 new tracks (e.g 12v2)  and have 3v2 and and 4v2 to record 2 new tracks.

There are some excellent instruction videos here under the tutorial section :

Bottom line you don't need bouncing until you want to record more than 4 tracks!!

good luck !!

Another use for bouncing is adding effects to a dry track and/or adding rhythm permanently to a track.

Being of little musical competence, I often record sections of an instrument part by alternating two tracks. Then I bounce these down to one track. You can bounce to mono or stereo.

Sidenote: I recently did a test to see if there was any quality loss from multiple bounces. After bouncing a track 7 times, there was no noticeable quality change. The seventh was as clean as the original recording. I was impressed. With the Micro that is, not my performance.
