I saw Miles Davis in concert in 1989.  This week's release from Nick's Jazz Shed is my humble tribute.

This festival has really made me reflect on how steeped in jazz my life has been.  Even back in the early 80's I was listening to Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie.

It's also made me reflect about my grandfather (Cliff Lane) who played double bass on cruise ships between the UK and USA in the forties and fifties.  He was in a wheelchair with MS when I was born and he died when I was quite young, but I think it's from him I get my music.  No other likely candidates, tbh.  So it's also a tribute to him.

Jazz-tastic! L:ove the angular rhythm & that muted trumpet really summons up the spirit of Miles... I'm so jealous as I never got to see him live.

Thanks Geir & Johnny.

The trumpet and sax are from ThumbJam, drums are DM-1 and everything else is GB.

Excellent jazz music again! The piano around one minute is very trippy and the bass solo is cool, too!

The jazz-shed is seeing some action at the moment.  Love the feel of this - and that tumbling line at about 1.40 is sublime.

Nice work, sounds like you sure got a musical heritage. Splendid piece.   Willie
