I recorded this one on PC!  Kind of a departure for me, since I had been pretty inseperable from my Boss Micro BR-80.

It's kind of metal-y.  The guitars are refretted strat and a fretless bass.  The refret converted the fretboard from standard to 19 notes per octave.  (I'd be happy to discuss those instruments if anyone is curious enough to ask - the point of the song was not really to demonstrate how weird the guitar can sound, so I guess making a big deal out of the fact that the guitars are microtonal would be unwise of me)

I know the performance is far from perfect, but I wouldn't mind any feedback you can lend me.  If you think it sucks, feel free to tell me, and at least I'll know someone listened to it.   ;)  Maybe I can fix some of the problems with it or maybe I can simply move on.

Anyway, enough babbling:

Hmm, seems I cannot figure out how to embed the player.  Here's a link: https://soundcloud.com/bostjan-zupancic/home

Wow - I really enjoyed that. I wasn't sure how 19 frets per octave would sound, it sounds just fine. Full on metal, not sure what to compare it to, perhaps a bit of Mattias IA Eklundh when he plays his fretless guitar on the 'Art Metal' album (which I love btw) with Jonas Hellborg. Keep 'em coming.

I dig this too, some seriously bad ass metal. I would have like too have heard a little more microtonal-ness but I did enjoy. If I were to give any feedback it would be in your mix, not the performances which are great...and I was listening on earbuds.

I didn't find the drums too loud but I wanted everything else brought up some. The vocal was crystal clear and I liked that I could understand everything but maybe some reverb and some chorus. I sometimes double a vocal track and lay the effects kinda high on one track then mix it behind the lesser effected track. It can add ambiance to the vocal without losing the clarity of the lyrics.

Regardless, this rocked!
On!

Interesting that you have an instrument set up for the Pythagorean tuning standard of 19 semitones per octave... a brave thing to do & you've certainly made good use of it here. An exciting composition, mate. Bravo!

Yes - this is indeed kind of metal - which kind of suits me!  A great piece of music.  I agree with Hook - perhaps bring the guitar and bass up a bit in the mix - but this is only an opinion of personal taste.

How about posting a picture of your 19 frets/octave strat?  I have never seen one.

Great post.

Not the highest quality photos, but I snapped a couple quickly.  ;D

I love Matthias IA Eklundh.  Really innovative playing.  8)

You are all very kind! I really appreciate your feedback!  I'm working on smoothing out the levels, and I play with some effects on the vocals.  ;)
