I really don't care much for ovations but this has always intrigued me. I might try to haggle a bit, I don't know.

The only thing I did'nt like about Ovations was the domed back, it kept sliding off my fat Belly :D
But I must admit this one looks good.....

They can be constructionally weak as the neck can detach from the body, so I've been told. They can't really take heavier strings. That said, I've had an Applause (cheap copy) for years - its never been a great guitar sound wise, it plays okay, but the body's full of rattles which annoys me.

That's a good looking guitar.  I have had an Ovation since the mid-eighties and I love it.  I love the neck which is very "electric" in feel.  This suits me since I am mainly an electric guitar player and don't really feel the need to struggle with heavy gauge strings - the old fingers just can't cope.  I was still gigging when I bought mine and at the time there wasn't really a lot of alternative if you wanted to make an acoustic loud unless you wanted to do the mic thing.

In terms of tone - well - they are not everybody's cup of tea.    Can sound a bit thin but there is a place for that.

Mine is a LTD stereo Artist model.  The stereo output (which I don't use) sends alternate strings to different sides.  I never really worked out why you might want to do that.  I guess someone thought it was a good idea....

Not sure if you watched the video but this is no ordinary Ovation. It has a built in mp3 recorder w/a condenser mic built into the preamp. I'm pretty surprised with the quality that can be achieved with it for LITLR recordings, which of course I do a lot of. I also build off of them so I can capture recordings with just guitar and track them out later.

I don't like the bowl of ovations at all And have an old applause myself, this one only interests me for the recorder. I really hope to be able to write some new songs for work and I hope the ease of writing & recording will inspire me to get me productive. I went ahead and bought it today but there is a 30 day wait on used gear in Hillsborough County so I don't get it till next Tuesday.

You're right - I didn't watch the video.  I just saw a fairly cool looking Ov!  I have watched it now and it looks interesting.  I can see it being very useful for your "record-everywhere" abilities.
