I'm going to re-record the vocals on this, but thought I'd share how it's going so far.
Recorded on iPad GarageBand, but for once, with no native GarageBand instruments.
The guitars are me using an iRig HD into GarageBand's amp sims.
I think the vocals are too restrained & feel I need to let loose more, so watch this space. :)

I've been on a bit of a retro kick, remembering my youth just lately.
I remember seeing The Buzzcocks around 1978 at Norwich St. Andrews, being supported by Subway Sect. A great gig & I got to meet Pete Shelley & Steve Diggle afterwards.

Enjoy

The Rezillos, ooh thanks.  :)
I hadn't spotted that until you said. They were a band I also quite liked way back before The Internet was in the public domain. Never got to see them, but wish I had. Can't Stand My Baby & of course Top of The Pops were great songs.
Cheers for listening. ;D

Great cover SDS - think the vocal is fine but if you are going to re-do it perhaps a touch of "campness" would make it more authentic? A great song by one of my favourite bands back in the day !

I like the quality of the recording too - I've got Garageband on my ipad but can't figure out the drums or how to record with it! Just used it for a touch of keyboards on some of my tracks and output it to my BR600.

There's lots of good stuff going on here, but I'm loving those drums and the overall energy. I have to mention the rhythm tone and the BG vocals as well, though. Cool post.

I was having problems last week with songs stopping after a minute or so. I thought the same happened today (I cursed aloud). Great ending! It caught me out.

I've been waiting to get a chance to listen to this and it's the first thing I did when I got into work this morning.  And I wasn't disappointed either.

Great version, SDS, that's a great version.  The drums and guitars are fabulous and the vocal has a bit of the Howard Devoto about it, which gives it a nice direction.

Really jealous that you got to see them back in 1978.  Buzzcocks are my favourite band from that era, I think, they were a bit more 'camp' (as Pete says) than the others and also they were very good musicially, under-rated.  This time three years ago I was in the middle of covering the whole of the Spiral Scratch EP.

Anyway, great job.

I liked the vocals, sort of posh punk(!), I wouldn't change anything . . .

The Buzzcocks has been very important band to me! To be a punk band they had very melodic songs, imo - like this one. Still have Singles Going Steady single collection. Brilliant album!

You've done an excellent cover here! Well played and sung!
