Laptop Probs

For about 2 weeks I have had problems with my laptop on the web,
But only on Songcrafters,
It would open up ok but as soon as I tried to get into any section it would freeze, Then I would get adverts coming up by the minutes and I couldnt get out of the site without forcing it shut,
So I did a full scan which took 6 hours and luckily enough I got rid of it,
2 days later it was back again only on songcrafters, Another 6 hours scan but this time it did'nt get rid of it so I upgraded my Avast security, then did another full scan, No effect it was still the same,
Then a friend mentioned that the Malware would be attached to Chrome not the actual computer,
Yesterday I completely removed Chrome and installed Mozella Firefox, Problem solved after hours and hours of work. I am only posting this in case anyone ever gets the same problem......

There's a great bit of software available for free download, you can subscribe if you wish, but it works well even if you don't, called Malware Bytes.

It gets rid of all sorts of crap from your machine, stuff that Avast wouldn't see.

Failing that there is a utility from Bleeping Computer called ComboFix which is a bit riskier to use than Malware Bytes, which can detect root kits which cannot normally be found by the upper level scanners.  ComboFix can destroy your operating system  - well normally your operating system is close to having been destroyed before you need to use it, but it does feel like it's a kill or cure last ditch effort.
