BR-80 export to mp3?

Trying to help my friend getting a couple of questions answered before he buys a BR-80...
Any BR-80 users who can help clear up these 2 questions?

* How do BR-80 users export a song to mp3 format?
After you master a song file do you have the option to export as a wav OR an mp3?  (Same as we do on the Micro-BR)  Or is it necessary to export as a wav to a computer and then use 3rd party software to convert to a mp3?

* Reading through the BR-80 reviews there have been some comments about issues when moving files to or from a computer using Windows 10.  Is Win10 compatibility a problem?  Are there work-arounds?

Thanks for any help...

i don't have a br-80 i have br-800 but i think they have a lot of similarities. one being songs are saved/exported as wav files. to convert to mp3 i use audacity (early version cool pro edit) where i can trim song and save as mp3. pretty much as i did with micro br except it was saved as mp3 before going to audacity for trimming.

regards compatability with windows 10, i understand that is resolved. however i only use br wav convertor, br800 interfaces etc with windows 10 on both my pc and laptop, but i haven't tried that for recording mixing in a daw yet, tho i know i can do so, learning curve a bit steep, am happy doing everything onboard br800 for now tho.

In LIVE REC mode, you have the choice of WAV or MP3 format. However, LIVE REC mode is pretty limited compared to MTR (multitrack) mode. For example, you can only record from the built-in stereo mics in LIVE REC mode.

In MTR mode, you can only export to WAV files. But it's easy to load the WAV file into Audacity and export it as an MP3. I would want to do that anyway since it would give me the opportunity to trim the song and normalize its levels. Plus, it's more convenient to do fades and other edits in Audacity than in the BR. That's true of any BR, not just the BR-80.

I haven't heard of any problems other than that Roland was a bit slow in releasing their Windows 10 driver. But it's available now and has been for quite some time now.

As for issues transferring files, I can't see that being a problem unless Windows 10 has USB connectivity issues. When transferring files, the BR-80 just acts as a USB mass storage device, similar to a USB hard drive or USB flash memory stick. If Windows 10 can transfer files to/from those devices, then I see no reason why it should have any trouble doing the same with a BR-80.

But then I've never actually used a BR-80, so maybe some of the BR-80 users here can share their experiences with file transfers between the BR-80 and a computer.

Thanks for the responses guys.

After looking at Micro-BR vs BR-80, Bob has decided to go with an M-BR and has ordered a gently-used one online.  And ya know, it's already been shown to be a pretty good way to get up and going.  So, I expect you will be hearing more from him (dash) before too long.
