I was Taxi Dad last night which meant I had a few hours in the car and was able to finish 2 tunes I've had on the Br80 for ...a day or 2 at least. This one I actually wrote Friday and pulled off the road to record the uke part so I wouldn't lose it. It was a little bebop kinda progression I was playing with & then it found its way into 7/8 time & became this.
1 uke (stereo)
1 drums (drumjam-stereo)
2 u-bass
1 trumpet (thumbjam-stereo)
1 vocal (stereo)
Burdens & Losses
written & performed by Hook
The Past never really passes
Nor do we always
choose what is forgotten

The branches just like crosses
hold the burdens and the losses

The wounds we've created
that have festered over time
Scars upon the surface
and infection just inside

The branches just like crosses
hold the burdens in the losses
And the neon lights that ruin the night
Speak volumes of our righteous plight

The hook brings you back

Nice Hook...I really like this! The 7/8 timing gives it an exotic vibe. The harmony vocals fit the Uke cording like a glove. The trumpet and percussion gives it a Latin jazz sound. Well done my friend.........jazz on!

Thanks Farrell but I see you at 2901, the thought is well received however.

Cool song and absolutely how it was produced 'on the road'.
The 7/8 time really does drive some interesting changes.
Time well spent as a 'Taxi Dad'.  All too soon your kids will become self-propelled.

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Love the 7/8 time signature. Sometimes "odd" rhythms like this can sound a bit disconcerting, but the way your melody glides through it is masterful. Great song! Bravo!

My thoughts exactly! Your solid vox and that likable melody make it work. great uke.

Out of the box jazz. Really creative. Nice!

Listened to this earlier - very bohemian, fab tune brother. Loved the double tracked vocals.

Push that envelope! You have a nice jazzy feel happening in this tune.
Dueling BR1600s. Beats banjos.
