"Used To Feel" a Hook original w/video

 I wrote this one 5 years ago here https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=12594. So I heard about the Maroon 5 guy, Adam Levine's new show for songwriters called songland. I missed the audition deadline but they told me to send in a video anyway, probably wont get used till season 2 but who knows. Anyway I made this for that purpose but thought I'd share. I used my new video production set up which I set up in the garage.

I had the Br80 on a stool in front of me and I'm using my Baritone Uke. Edited with wondershare.

Sun shines down with a smile and shades
all my troubles melt away
fear disappears like a storm dissipates
no more worry no more hate
I wish I could find that place
some Zen retreat to which I can escape
& relinquish myself of all responsibilities
& indulge in a little tranquility

It's not too late
to pull it all together & start to emulate
all the silly old ideals
all the dreams, the desires,
& the passion & the purpose
that we used to feel

Sky so blue with endless possibilities
I think I'll take advantage of all these amenities
& hit the beach & ride the waves
head for the horizon & try to save
that spark,that ember, that tiny flame
that burns & yearns & we try to contain
wrap it up nice & tight in barbed wire
I want to let it out an all consuming fire

It's not too late

Now the moon sits high to illuminate the sky
but is lights a little deeper it's not quite as bright
casting shadows all around where shadows shouldn't be
like a spotlight the moon finds the shadows in me
there is no denying the choices I've made
all the abrupt endings & the gentle fades
as I recollect & reminisce
I ask of all I've done have I done my best
