Just heard it on the radio.  Really sad news that we've lost one of the great music producers and a true gentleman. Rest In Peace.

We would still have music today if there had never been a George Martin but there is no way it could be the same.  Take him out of the evolutionary lineage of popular music and everything would be different.

A number of years ago when I read his autobiography 'All You Need Is Ears' it was shocking to learn that he was the same age as my father.  And odd to think that when I was a young teenager and the Beatles were exploding all over the world, my father was certainly not a Beatles fan. But George Martin was in the middle of it, making it happen and changing history.

He has been said to have 'golden ears'.  Maybe so.  But it was also interesting to learn from his book that he experienced sounds as colors!  (actually a medical condition called Chromesthesia)

His mini-series 'The Rhythm of Life'  is *excellent*excellent*excellent*

George Martin, a worthy hero and role model in every way.
