My last post had some Native American flute in it. Several folks seemed interested in them so i thought i would share this tune while it was relevant. After my health scares of last winter and my near decision to sell my gear, i kinda went the other way and bought more. My wife's philosophy is "Life is short and money is just paper". Gotta love that eh? Anyways, i have always wanted a Double flute so i just took the plunge and bought one. Here is a direct link to the flute itself which contains a description and short video demo for those interested. I love the flute but have only recorded this one song so far. It takes a bit of getting used to compared to traditional Native American flutes.

The full moon of February was known by Native American peoples as the "Hunger Moon" because of the bone chilling cold, deep snows, and the poorest of hunting. It was a month in survival mode. I tried to capture that.

I love the sound of these ethnic flutes & such instruments - they lend such a plaintive "older than time" feel to any piece of music. A really hypnotic texture which you use so beautifully on this tune - you certainly captured the sense of longing that the harsh climate of February must have brought. Bravo!

Thank you for listening and commenting John. That "older than time" sound is a perfect way to put it. I love that sound
and find it in the N.A. flutes as well as in a few other "ethnic" instruments like the bagpipes. I know this type of music won't appeal to many but i find it very soulful and with a "timeless" quality to it. I think the drone note contributes especially to that, as it does with the 'pipes and mountain dulcimers.

We have an arts festival hear every year and it coming up. There is a guy selling these flutes, for alot, I think I'm gonna have to give in this year. This is marvelous brother, I've been sitting by my fire all morning and now I have to go to work but I'm so glad I caught this one, such perfect playing and the drums are so hypnotic, I'm transported.
Rock on!

I love the Diversity of the music on this site,I'm glad you changed your decision on your gear and done this.
There is no better medicine than music and the best music is the stripped down acoustic/organic style to stir up all sorts of feelings.
A great tune full of great sounds .
Well done.

Unique piece of music again, Pine!

Kenny hits the point above! It's richness to hear very different kind of genres here.

Your song is very soothing! The Native American flute sounds so soft and gentle!

Enjoyable listening!

Am I right when saying the nature is very important inspirer to you? (For me, when at my cabin on the island, it is...then I write acoustic music inspired by the nature. )

The double flute looks doubly hard to play Pine. You're playing it well with the haunting melody and backing drone notes. I see fur covered mountain men and Indian Tee Pees in a snowy meadow as I listen. Good one!
