Hey all, I'm new 'round these parts but I'm really digging what every body is doing from what I've heard thus far. I've been working on an acoustic project lately, trying to adapt songs that are traditionally horns or electric guitars to resonators, etc. Here is one of my favorite tunes, "Soul Serenade":

Two thumbs up for King Curtis. Judging from your "Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl" comment in another post and this, I assume you are an Allman Brothers fan. That would make you my brother.

Great post. Has all the swampy goodness of a back porch offering at sunset. Gotta love a dobro (a missing piece in the arsenal of mine).

Looking forward to more form you.  Keep them coming.

By the way, "Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl"-And it's  a great tune-is pretty dark. It reminds me of the Catholic schoolgirl adult costumes for Halloween. Is it me, or is that just wrong?

Ahhh, those last notes (of this post) were great. That is soothing.

Peace.

Thanks Blooby, in other realms I've been known as "PorkchopBob". You actually turned me on to this site via HTN (good to hear your music finally!)

I agree with you on Warren's serious take on "Schoolgirl", it was always a little over the top for me. I kind of dig Taj Mahal's take which is super playful, almost a completely different tune. Hard to not like Taj playing banjo. Either way, loved your take on "Bloody Well Right", the wah fit right in.

Welcome BrettBob. Well, to start with, I am a HUGE resonator fan...so you can almost do no wrong. That said, you do know wrong at all on this. I am not familiar with the original I guess so it might as well be an original to me. It would sure make a good soundtrack for a film. Nice playing and nice recording. What brand instrument are you playing here? Your recording setup? Nice post...

Thanks alfstone and Pine, glad you dig it!

I'm using three guitars on that track, a Republic tricone on the intro and rhythm, a Recording King spider on the melody, and a Sovereign acoustic towards the end on the vamp. My recording setup is pretty simple - just a small clip on mic trough a digital tablet and then I mix all of the tracks in Adobe Audition. I'd like to get a better mic, but just haven't found one that is right for the price thus far.
