i got myself a korg nanokey (ideal for hand luggage for Norway trip) which came with a pile of free software. one of the software programmes was called strum session. basically you hit a key on the nanokey and you are playing guitar in the style of..........

anyway no guitars or strings where touched or broken for this little noodle come experiment. was all done with nanokey and strum session software.

i'm gonna press some buttons
to see what they can do
i got this crazy software
completely free to use
i like the sounds it's making
it's quite a lot of fun
some crazy algorithms
a pile of noughts and ones
i don't know what i'm doing
i just go with the flow
a laptop and a human
i wonder if they'll know
i like the sounds it's making
it's quite a lot of fun
some crazy algorithms
a pile of noughts and ones
hey wait it's gettin' scary
i could be obsolete
and maybe you won't need me
to sing or play my shit
some crazy algorithms

No! No!

Replacing a drummer with software - well that's fair game.  But guitar players!!!  It's an outrage!

Only joking.  Why not?  Sounds remarkably good.

Good song as well of course.

Ha! Have you manage to sneak it past Mrs Rottenhead?

Bravo mon ami!

It does sound pretty good.....

Sounds quite realistic, suppose it's handy but much rather have guitar, stuck in last century technophobe , cool tune enjoyed the listen!

Nice wee song, James! Would be a good advertisement song for Nano key!

Hand luggage for Norway... perhaps it means recording a song in 10 000 meters!

I remember in the late 70's early 80's there was a lot of consternation about synthesisers and how they would do musicians out of a job.  The Musicians Union were up in arms about it, how orchestra's would be out of work, replaced by machines.  Seems to me that making music more accessible to everyone only increases the amount of music made and the number of people who are able to participate in making music.  Apps like this put the means of production into the hands of the workers.  Vive la revolution.

Nice song, btw...

It sounds very like the smart guitar in GarageBand.
I'm convinced if I sat you in a room with a table and 5 objects you could write a song about them all.
Looking forward to hearing this in the Norway sessions.
