I like that "Epi or Squier then secretly upgrade" technique.

Not sure it would work on my missus, though. She kinda keeps up with what's going on, and actually seems to listen while I'm rabbiting on about gear over the tea and toast or wotever...

A good example was in the Yamaha shop yesterday. I was all over the thing we were there to check out, and after a while she went "have you noticed they have an awful lot of Line6 stuff in here?". The young guy serving us looked taken aback that she didn't have the usual "eyes glazed over" look/approach of the other half in a music shop.

So I don't really think I could fool her. But as long as she keeps buying me stuff and lets me buy stuff, then I'm happy.

ALSO - she's figured out "new gibson" smell now. The entire house smelt of it this time, I think she'd notice

Sweet!!! My trick is to have so much gear and instruments that she doesn't even notice the new stuff. Th green screen/light kit I just got is gonna be hard to hide however. Have fun brother!
