Audacity?

Hey all....hear comes a nooby question so brace yourselves

I recently downloaded my first wave editing software...Audacity....I really wanted to see what it did...I've sort of got to grips with it and there seem to be some awesome effects built into it....

How can I use it to make more professional recordings...in short, what tips or tricks do you guys know of?  Any ideas??

I always import whatever I record on the BR to Audacity and trim the beginning and end of it.... I use the Normalise function quite a bit too...That way my songs are consistently the same volume...

Just downloaded Audacity and found its just like Nero Wave Editor, which does a whole lot more, its still a good prog tho.

I use Audacity to Normalize some of my recordings.

Tried to use it for looping but there is always a clicking noise after each paste
(Damn I need a loop pedal bad!).

I have trouble bouncing tracks on the MBR and importing MP3's to record over, so I always re-record the exported 4 track MP3 on the BR from Audacity (which gets it down to two tracks in stereo). The sound quality seems to have a clearer Play back with less of a background hiss than on other programs. 

 I have Nero, but have never used it. I might give it a try.

I use Audacity to add things to my BR recordings... sound effects normally (which have appeared on quite a few of my recent solo recordings). I've also enjoyed experimenting with the 'phaser' effect, which can add a nice psychedelic feel to certain parts. I think it's a nifty little tool. And yes, it's a good way to edit song length, perform fade outs, and normalise if you want to.

At the risk of adding my own "nooby" question i recently downloaded Audacity and when i tried to save it as an MP3 i couldn't as i needed a programme to convert back to mp3? any ideas whatprogramme to use?

I use wavepad - it'll convert .WAV files to mp3, and you can choose the kbps settings (e.g. 128kbps, 192 kbps). It's free!
