Track 122 - Under the wire

So - bought a windows 10 laptop is Sainsbury's for £100, HP 14 inch, seems pretty good - just to be a little more portable. Windows is really crap compared to Macs - but some good software and sounds - however there is always a problem that takes an age to sort, or you have to live with something not quite right ..... Bought it really to have a rig manager for the kemper - that works well! Anyway - this is a bit of an experiment (as always) - drums from the PC, everything else played from a guitar (well the GR10 midi'd through to the PG polysynth audiothingies thing .... The Edirol works, but with a horrible latency which means you can't really use it - which is arse. Still just set the drum machine going and played along with it - so there is the compromise!

Tracking is not 100% GR20, a few funny notes - could re-record, but then .... so a few glitches here and there - oh well. Uploaded from the PC - so didn't need to transfer files etc - which is a first for me. Simpler to upload as I no longer need to carry the BR1600 to the mac, to upload/convert etc, etc.

A great piece, Bruno.

Can you not alter the sample rate while tracking to get the latency down.  (I think it is the sample rate - I'll check when I fire the PC up later).  As long as you don't add too many memory hungry things like reverbs while tracking it should be usable even with a modest processor.

Paul

or is it the buffer size  you have to change?

Yeah, a fine track Bruno. I also have an Edirol interface which I can't get on with at all and I wouldn't go back to a P.C. after having a MAC for so many years although the cost may have a bearing on future puchases. Nice playing.  Willie

A nice creation Bruno! I don't know much about your latency problems but it would be areal drag to have to deal with it. This sounds great!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

This is crazy dense. Were I to do this, it would sound terrible, but you've carved out a spot for everything going on. Sounds like modern-day spy music. I admit to missing the ripping guitar solo I was expecting.

Oh this mix is so clean, I can hear everything so well. Love it brother! I have a personal latency problem that I can't sort out so I'm sure I could help you with a computer one.
