Hi all, here's one for the World Peace Fest, an easy song to play but difficult to write as I didn't really believe in what I was writing. It would be lovely to have world peace but I don't see it happening in my lifetime unless musos take over, and even then!! Anyway still got the cold so vocal as rubbish as ever but hope you can enjoy.   Willie

I was there the day that peace broke out
We threw down our arms and cried aloud
The heartbeat of the world revived
And we thanked our gods that we survived

Children smiled in their mothers arms
And bells rang throughout the land

I was there the day that peace broke out
It wasn't time to count the cost
Through the borders we were brothers now
With open arms we can rebuild the trust

Children smiled in their mothers arms
And bells rang throughout the land

Your usual superb big production, Willie. Got to say I agree with your scepticism about this ever happening... still, we can live in hope, I suppose.

Does this mean you are inherently against peace or you don't see it happening?

You really don't have to answer that. I was just being difficult.

Nicely constructed song. That's a cool pad that carries the tune, and that guitar solo is so nicely understated. Reminds me of Clapton's solo in "Never Let You Go" in spirit, a tear-jerker of a solo. There's a mournfulness in the vocal delivery that makes me think it is more of a hope than a reflection. I stayed up late drinking, though, so any thoughts are suspect.

Hi and thank you for your kind comments. I should have been a little more specific Blooby, but you can be assured that I would love to see world peace, I just don't think it will ever happen. Sad but true.    WIllie

Nice song Willie. You paint a beautiful picture, nothing wrong with dreaming.

Even given your feelings on this ever happening (I doubt it will ever happen either IMO), I think this stands up on its own as a very valid song of hope - a dream - that at least everyone should hope for.

What a lovely song Willie. Big thumbs up.
