Hi all, not sure if this fits the War/Peace brief as it's more of a family at war song. If it doesn't qualify then no worries I would have written it anyway. I'm still trying to get to grips with the synth and I thought I'd have a little play with the vocoder (a work in progress I feel). The productions not great but I hope you can enjoy just a bit.      Willie

The silence was crushing me
It was warfare
She bit her nails,
Wouldn't look at me
It was warfare
Doesn't matter doesn't matter what's been said
There's no going back, this love is dead.

She's closed her borders
And I can't touch
She's got an army writing letters
Says move my stuff
Doesn't matter doesn't matter what's been said
There's no going back, this love is dead.

I waved a white flag
Just asking for a truce
She looked away and said man
You're gonna lose
Doesn't matter doesn't matter what's been said
There's no going back, this love is dead.

Great stuff, Willie. I'd just tweak that synth back a little in the mix as it echoes your "warfare" vocal. Other than that, I reckon you've pretty much nailed it as it stands.

Vocoders take a lot of faffing about, at least that's been my experience. I do like those GarageBand drums, and those are lovely strings: what are you generating those with? Good vocals too.

I think if this were mine I'd only want to faff about with the vocoder; everything else sounds great. Nice guitar solo as well.

Thanks for the chance to listen to this.

Good song Willie, but I'm afraid it doesn't qualify for World Peace Fest.

The festival is World Peace Fest, not War and Peace. As stated in the description for the poll, the theme is "songs relating to peace in the world". So the emphasis should be on peace, not war. Although, anti-war songs are acceptable and will usually talk about war. But it should be clear that the lyrics are showing the folly of war and a desire for peace rather than merely talking about wars. We had a War Songs fest back in Sep/Oct 2014 and we don't want this festival to be the same. It's possible that we'll have a War Songs 2 fest in the future but this isn't it. This one's all about peace.

It's great to see you trying new things Willie, but I have to say I really like your vocals on this one.
It's a good song and I love the way you are singing it.
 Nice work.

Thanks for your kind comments guys, Leigh and Johnny I totally agree, the balance of the vocoder is way out but I hope to put that right the next time I use it. Leigh, the strings are from the Roland synth and the vocals were done also through the synth with just delay and reverb, it seems to make my voice a little clearer and god knows it needs all the help it can get.  Thank you again.       Willie
