Roland BA-CS10 Stereo Microphone?

hi there!

i was wondering if anyone out there was using the Roland BA-CS10 Stereo Microphone? if you are, how's it performing? any pros<>cons you could add would be helpful. it's not a BIG chunk of money, but i just don't want to spend it if it's not gonna be worth it.

Alot of people bought a cheap Sony mic on Ebay for $5 + free shipping...I have 2!! Couldn't pass up the good deal....and for $5, they really sound pretty good... A step up from the onboard... Definitely worth checking out...

I bought one and i find it to be a great addition to the MBR.  It records really well for acoustic or vocals.  I haven't tried it on anything else yet.  It maintains the MBRs great portability with a mic that will record in stereo and do a real nice job.  I think it was worth the money IMO.  I really like it.

I just recently got the Sony through ebay and it works great. I'm thinking about ordering another one, just to have. I guess, it would be nice to hear the Roland and Sony side by side, but for now the Sony is just fine.
I could not help but check out your website. I see you own a few Italia's, but dont see the one I was looking at, the Imola. What do you think of the Italia's in general? Check this out. http://www.maycustombasses.com/

thanks for the info on the mic. i got a sneaky hunch the elements in the two mics (the Roland and the Sony) are very much the same, if not IDENTICAL. i do remember buying that Sony mic about 5-6 years ago and paying about $75 for it back then! (it was for a Sony MiniDisc recorder) So i may try the Sony $5 first.

i was thinking about getting an Edirol and just selling or giving away my BR Micro. the micro is great, but it's a lot of over kill. all i really need is a digital equivalent of an old school tape recorder. (to record practices, gigs and ideas) the remote on the Edirol is a BIG plus.

i also have been looking into the new(ish) Tascam GT-R1 Portable Guitar and Bass Recorder. the 'bumped' up version of the DR-1. with it's ability to play along with songs, it's metronome, drum tracks and built in speaker, it's pretty feature packed.

anyway, decisions, decisions...

yup! i've got me some Italia's! i think they're great! i really into retro axes. and these are all that. and they're not fragile and flimsy like and older Supro or Eko would be. Italia's are all made from Trev Wilkinson parts, so you know it's foundation is solid.

as far as the Imola goes, i didn't get one because i really didn't want another jazz bass clone. and to me the Imola is too much NOT a close enough clone of what it's trying to be...the Ampeg AEB scroll bass.

if you're interested in that vibe i'd suggest the Eastwood EEB-1 or fretless EUB-1. it's closer the Ampeg's lines. (although neither has that ultra cool scroll headstock)

the other main differences would be that the Eastwood is 30.5" scale vs. the Imola's full 34" scale. but the Eastwood's pickup is closer to the Ampeg's as the Imola's jazz setup is a total freelance idea.

i'm sure though, they BOTH have great sound qualities. i played an Imola at NAMM and it was cool.

btw: i do own an Eastwood Airline Map Bass in Seafoam Green and it ROCKS!

...and chicks dig it.

Go the $5 sony.  In fact, order 2 when you do.  I wish I had gotten a spare when I got mine.

If you want to give away your BR  I know someone who will take it off your hands.
