Software for keyboard chord pad kind of thing.

Greetings chaps,

I was hoping that you guys might be able to help me finding some iPad apps or other software that I can set up keyboard chords which I can then play with single keys (pads), to record into my BR 800 or even DAW (Ableton Live 8).

I'm reasonably well adept at chord voicings and theory and can play the shit out of that stuff on guitar, but my keyboard playing is clumsy and probably best described as amateur.

Garageband works reasonably well for some tunes however it is very limited in the types of voicings you can use.

The iPad version of Cubase works very well in the way you can set up chords, however it is a massive application to justify having if you're only going to use the chord pads.

I quite like the pads you can set up on the M3000 HD Moog app but I rarely have use for Moog sounds, I'm more into organ sounds or electric piano sounds. I really like the Galileo Hammond Organ app, (my kind of tone!!!), but there are no chord pads that I am aware of being able to use on this app.

I would like to find a similar app to the cubase one but I have had no luck, do any of you fine people know of some other options I could use.

Cheers,

Jimbo
Warmest regards,

Captain Jimbo

Loads of options here. Midi is the classic old school way to chain synths. Arpegiators and sequencers can be used on soft synths and hardware synths. Also there are many options to drive Midi from guitar, for example the Roland system, which tracks quite nicely. Also you can program midi from many devices, including most DAW's including garageband I believe, or hardware synths such as the Korg microsynths. Also you can consider apps similar to Korgs K-oscilator which allows you to play keys without touching a keyboard. :-)
