Got a new toy this week and have not been able to stop playing with it. It's the Digitech TRIO. This little box has caught my attention like nothing I have seen in years. I encourage all of you to check these things out. There are plenty of videos and reviews out there, so I won't go into detail here, but if any of you have any questions about what I have found out after using it for awhile, don't hesitate to ask. Merry Chistmas to all of you. Take care.

Thanks for the heads up dave.......This looks incredible.....I have just found my next gear purchase........maybe a new Years present.  I have questions.....it doesn't loop your guitar chords does it?..........is that a problem.  You could link it up with a looper pedal for that I guess, have you tried something like that?  How about recording from it, any attempts yet?  Oh yeah, I am tempted to get this bad boy.  Impressions man, I need some impressions...........tell us what you really think of it Dave..........damn it looks promising.......have you tried acoustic guitar through it?  more questions.  I got a buzz from this little pedal........a gear buzz.

To answer your questions:

1. My first impressions of it are good. The sound of the bass and drums aren't quite the quality you would get from a dedicated drum machine, but that's not the point of this pedal. It's the spontaneous nature of how it comes up with appropriate drum patterns and bass lines that makes it so much fun.

2. No it isn't a looper. But I am using it with my modeling amp that has a built in looper so that isn't really an issue. Sadly there is no MIDI on this device so syncing is a problem, but it can be used with a looper with a little creativity.

3. I have a BOSS BR-800 and have been recording a little with it. The drums and bass it produces are mono only. That makes for a little bit of a "flat" recording, but you can cut out the drums or the base and record them seperately. That way you can use your own drum machine patterns with the bass line or vice versa, panning as desired.

4. The unit can work from just about any source including acoustic guitars, mandolins, keyboards etc. Anything that can supply it with chords I guess would work. You just have to keep the "teaching" portion down to a minimum. Finger picking guitar into it makes for some really "busy" bass lines.

This is a really fun pedal. I wouldn't say it was ideal just yet, but there is a usb port on it and rumor has it that updates and changes are in the works. It can only get better! For the money I haven't had this much fun with a musical "gadget" since the '80s when I got my first Tascam portaone! It really IS that much fun.

Hope that helped a little. Anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the quick response, I think this is exactly what I need to get my arse going and get back into playing more.  It looks like it has a lot of fun built into the box.
