This is the first proper tune I've done on the Harley Benton. Being a Les Paul style guitar I wanted to do something a bit "old school classic blues/rock" with it. I tried to include all the necessary cliches... shuffle type rhythm? Check; Wishbone Ash-style harmony guitars? Check; Gary Moore-style twiddly bits? Check. Blues scale riffing? Check.

Drums courtesy of Cakewalk, bass is my old no-name ebay special, then it's double tracked rhythm guitars throughout & one lead guitar track (with a harmony track on the final verse). The guitar is recorded through the Vox Tonelab on the US HIGAIN (Soldano) setting.

Thanks for listening :)

Hell yeah factor; Check
Put a smile on my face, loving those runs, very fluid, and a great tone, and the twin leads, marvellous!!!

I played a second hand Epi Les Paul in local store for £250 - was tempted!!! I know very little about Gibsons, never owned or played one - was a child of Blackmore and always wanted Fenders.

I tell you Johnny this sure doesn't sound like a 120 Euro guitar and a no name Ebay bass. Then again I think you could tighten up the strings of an old boot and make it sing like a pro. Nice tones and playing all around. I really like the chorus section of the song and those harmony leads are killer!

Great stuff John... that sure puts a smile on my face. Yes you ticked all the boxes, but with this type of music has to be done a certain way and your personality comes out in the playing. Super playing indeed and a great listen. best listened to live in a pub I'd say with beer in hand!

Oh  and the sound of the guitars, nothing wrong with that at all, sounds great in fact.

Cheers

Thanks chaps! Got to admit I'm over the moon with the tone that little HB kicks out. As for the track... I finished it in haste - in a hurry to get it done I think I wound it up too soon. It just seemed to end in a nondescript way, so I've re-worked it a little...

Here's the re worked version.

Cheers,

John.
