It s a modest tribute to Eric Bogle

Eric Bogle  is a folk singer-songwriter from Australia. Scottish-born, he emigrated to Australia in 1969, and currently lives near Adelaide, South Australia. A little explanation for the slide show which accompanies this song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s929Kih44A

I was recently in a quite small village of Provence, in France where there was an exposure about the war of 14-18 and the young men of this village who died (12) but there is all along this war, the most murderess of the history of the humanity,   thousands and thousands  young men of all the countries taken in this storm; Africans, German, English, French, Australian, Canadian....and more others nationalities

In this period in France we are confronted to a new war type (terrorism),  this song is sadly on the actuality

thank you, all the guys, peace and love

I feel like I should be in the pub with the locals, listening to this. In this vision, I also look good in a sweater, but that's neither here nor there.

Lovely take on this song.

this the answer of Eric Bogle,  we are very honored fot its consideration
once more , thank you Thomas for your collaboration for this cover wich meant a lot forme

QuoteHello Jean pierre

Many thanks for sending me your recording of my song, and my apologies for the delay in replying, but I only got back home from my holiday in Japan a couple of days ago....

I liked your recording, it is now in my iTunes library along with many other versions. Thomas has a nice voice (deep too!). I don't care who sings my songs, whether they are famous or unknown, it always gives me the same feeling of quiet pride and satisfaction.

Please forward me your friend's video, I would like to see it.

Kind regards

Eric

Eric Bogle isanexcellent folk singer ..and a well respected man :He had the kindness to answer me from Australia when I asked him permission to make a cover because I wanted to use it to illustrate a short video about the war of 14
