i went through a phase of deliberately not rhyming, tho now i'm not so strict on myself, but i do hate an obvious rhyme more than anything, especially my own.  ;D ;D

if you look carefully, not rhyming is a recurring topic in a lot of my songs, , have lost count of the times i have used the line "it doesn't have to rhyme". ;D ;D

oh and just another thought.

i find putting limitations on myself (in addition to my lack of musical skills) such as not rhyming, is a good tool for getting you out of your comfort zone. other things i do is limiting how many or which chords i can use. got the ideas from brian eno's "oblique strategies"

okay one last thought, you can have too many words to get a point across, so drop some, you would be surprised how little meaning is lost. a bit like using twitter. get to the point.
