Like Nick Cave meets the Cramps who are holidaying with the Velvets and rips the heads off the Duranies for a bit of sport.

Super super, dirty filthy awesomness.

I think it's rather fine.

D'you know, when I was putting this together I was thinking what I'm looking for is Nick Cave meets the Cramps who are holidaying with the Velvets and rips the heads off the Duranies for a bit of sport.   I'm really glad that came over.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  I unexpectedly had an evening early last week and just tinkered about with a few songs until this popped up; it was the Wolf thing that sent me off down this road.  I'm really trying to lay off the festivals at the moment, use what little time I get to concentrate on original stuff.  Hence the comment in the original post.

The bass by the way is the old trusty GB Upright bass, played through the stringy interface screen.  That instrument has dictated the direction of much of my stuff over the last couple of years.  I'm a kind of an addict.

Love it!

Adds a dash of darkness, and the slower pace makes it more intense and trippy. Can definitely hear the Link Wray vibe too.

This is how to take a cover and do something special with it.

Oh-my-god this is damn brilliant.  I love all your instrumentation choices, the whole thing hangs together so well.  Spooky and delicious.  Well done.  great clear vocals.

Great version. Love the Velve-Link-Cramps feel.
I always hated the original, but then again I hated almost everything about the 80's pomp-electro-funk scene, with their rolled up padded jackets & oh so sincere, but oh so indecipherable lyrics.

If only they'd have done it like this in the 1st place  ::)

Cool  8)
