I think there should be a list of SC 'Producers' that would like to be involved - to avoid sending something to someone who doesn't want to produce it (I also think it would be a good idea to indicate on the list whether they've been approached, so that we don't miss anyone else out that would like to be involved).

Not that it's very likely, but please don't send anything to me . . .

That's funny, I forgot I suggested this fest. I probably should have voted for it.

My initial idea was to record the guitar/uke/piano/etc. & vocal then pass it to another member for it to be produced. Yes it's a collaboration but most of the collabs I've been involved in have worked the opposite way, track is made and sent for vocals so this is kinds backwards. I was imagining Getting to be the guy that makes Taylor Swift or Allanis Morrisette or Katie Perry (or ORH) into a hit. I never really thought about having to re record the initial track but actually being (only) a producer.

With that said, once the initial track is given the producer would be free to do whatever they want to. As I told ORH, I respect him not giving me the individual tracks but I make no guarentee that he won't hear himself (and that drum beat!) on the track. Regardless of the interpretation (& I think if a track was recieved its open for interpretation) I think it will be a fun fest and a different approach to collaboration. I like ProducerFest & am hoping to start producing ORH's today.
Rock on my friends!

I'd like to be part of this -yeh-
But I would loose interest very quickly  if it becomes a major operation ;D ;D ;D ;D
Say for instance -I came up with a song
intro-Verse- chorus -verse- chorus -verse =out
I do a vocal and acoustic guitar  -
Maybe do 2 versions one with a basic chordpusle backer
and also post a second version with the backer knocked off
Is that enough???????
I hate click tracks ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D by the way-
Assuming of course anybody would be interested spending time over my song ;D ;D ;D
Just wondering -or as we say here in Ireland -Just asking ;D ;D ;D ;D

After reading the comments in this topic, we've decided to call it ProducerFest.

Here's how it will work:

Songwriters will post their rough demo recording in the Original Songs board. Optionally, you can also upload the individual tracks as WAV, FLAC, or whatever to SkyDrive/OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox, etc. and include a link to it in your post. Please don't upload individual tracks to Songcrafters. Be sure to set the message icon of your post to . Do not set it to Festival Submission. Only the finished songs will be included in the jukebox, not the demos.

If you're interested in producing someone else's song, simply browse the Original Songs board and look for posts that have the message icon.

You can learn the song and record your own version of it, or you can use the demo recording and simply add tracks to it. It's your choice. Post your finished recording in the Original Songs board in the usual way and be sure to include the Festival Submission message icon.

Please note that once the original songwriter has posted their demo, they are to have no more involvement with any projects based on their song. The idea is to hand it off completely to someone else and let them do whatever they want with it. We don't want the songs to become collaborations in the usual sense. Instead, the demo and the finished song should be created independently. You can collaborate with other members to create your finished song, but not with the original songwriter.
