Mucking up PUP wiring

I have a lefty CV50 -there were Seymour Duncans' in it-too powerful and heavy sounding for me-
So I took them out -writing down all details-

Sold them on line (adverts.ie)two days later for 90€
Took a set of PUPs off my old blue Strat-noting the details again-
they are a set of Ironstone Gold grades-wired them into the CV50 -I'm happy as a pig in ...........
=Now the bad part
I had a set of PUPs lying around -so I wired them into the Blue Strat
mucked it up completely-
I'm getting a great sound but= the 3 pups are working together
no volume they are on full-
so I recorded something with them-
great sound kinda like the Burns Cobra-

When I opened the guitar back up-and checked the wiring I dont know where I am
I wire was disconnected -and so on.........................

So looks like I will have to start from scratch again-but I want to try and get "that" sound again

So It's gonna be trail and error for a while---
now wheres me soldering iron

Some great sounds have been made by accidentally wiring the pickups arse-about-face. The Gary Moore/Peter Green Les Paul springs to mind. Judging by the track I've just listened to with your "dodgy" wiring, I would have left well alone... so the volume control doesn't work... you're a guitarist, why would you ever want to turn the volume DOWN?

I think Peter Frampton also had a erroneously wired up Les Paul that he used on Frampton comes alive and was stolen and turned up decades later. 

There should be wiring diagrams for your Strat on the Fender web site. If not, someone else will have one on the net somewhere.

I have now made an utter Rolex of the whole lot
By looking at wiring diagrams on the net and starting from scratch-
I now end up with the blxxxy thing wired and working -but the vol. control only takes the treble off
I have since discovered that being a lefty -the wiring diagrams are for rightys -so I have been wiring the pups ass about face--cos the 5 way selector switch is a right hander
however on the goodside-I now have the bridge and neck pup working together
but I have lost THAT sound i found -cos I could'nt figure out where that loose wire was touching
Think I will just buy a lefty loaded pickguard

This diagram is for strats. Should work for you.

If the volume pot works backwards when installed on a left-handed guitar, try switching the wires
on the two outside lugs on the volume pot. This should reverse the direction you turn for raising/lowering
the volume.
