Holster - odh original

ODH

Twelve days ago - the Wednesday before last - I was looking after my DD.  She had her face pressed up against the television screen watching Bing and I took the opportunity to check out the pedal steel on ThumbJam that Hook has been using so effectively lately.  I guess in my head somewhere I thought I'd have a go at a Country and Western song using it.  Litterally the first thing I played on it was the opening riff on this song.

It developed into a song about the peculiarly American pastime of mass killing, the story told from the POV of the perp.  I had the title of Holster knocking around for ages, according the dictionary it's only used for a holder of guns.

It developed in a different direction and became more of a rocker, so I'm not putting it forward for the fest.

Tracks are
Pedal Steel Guitar - ThumbJam
Guitar (x2) - Tokai Breezysound into GB amp sim
Organ & bass - GB
Drums and guns - DM-1 Drum machine
Vocal - onboard mic (iPhone5)

Now I don't really know much about the subject I confess, beyond what I read in the press, so I have to apologise to anyone that might be offended by my blundering insensitivity here.

File is a smidge too big to upload here, so had to alonetone it.

TJ steel guitar riff is very addictive! Catchy vocal melodies, too!

Creative stuff indeed...the machine gun solo works with the subject.

You've put all things well together! I like this!

I've done a version at 160kbps as opposed to 192, which is what the one on the end of the link above is, so I can upload here.  Apart from that it's the same thing.

I love this.

The pedal steel riff is cool.

I think your singing voice is perfect for the song.

Its a rather unusual middle 8 but very effective.

Great song.
