i have been messing around with this chord pattern for the last week or two, believing that there was a song somewhere in the riff. however the words were not coming. i recorded a version with drums acoustic and bass but it went nowhere. so i left it and went back to trying to cover bluesberry's song for the 1st post fest.

within BB's song there was a line about looking up to the stars on a cool september night and that was the spark for the lyrics. (see if you can spot the plagiarism  ;D ;D).

so i went back to basics, dumping the guitar bass and drum version and went naked just me and my guitar. house was very noisy so i tried to record in the car, no luck there , how hook does it i'll never know.

so headed up to my daughter's bedroom and after about nine takes without a capo, i still couldn't play the song without some mistake.

i put the capo on the 5th fret and this came out.

at some time in the future i intend to try this song again but with a bigger production, if anyone wants to help with that , let me know (oh the BPM varies).

the stars look down from way on high
a billion years to reach our eyes
travelled far  travelled wide
to spend some time on a cold October night
no one knows no one knows
how long they've been or if they've gone
how many worlds they've looked down on
how many things that they have seen
what's here and now what's gone and been
no one knows no one knows
we can only guess
are we alone or are there more
that see their sun as just a star
how many worlds how many souls
i don't believe we are alone
no one knows no one knows
we can only guess
we can only guess

Lovely song James. I would be happy to be a part of a bigger production of this.

This sounds like a candidate for the met james ;D
There's a few chord shifts needed here and there but it's a great platform to work off
Already got a vibe rattling in my head for it.
Now here's a thought, why don't we get jarle to send some drums for this and we can put it through the pa in the studio and use them live?
What do you think jarle?

Bluesberry

Yeah baby, space goodness.  You sound like you are floating out there in space singing this one.

Came back for another listen and to read the thread. I would love to help out with this tune also, let me know.
As far as recording in the guitar, guitar just doesn't work. I am in the midst of an eBay auction for an epiphone pee wee mini guitar so hopefully soon!
