Here is my go at Dont believe a word

All guitars done with my Gibson les paul
fx used were a zoom g2 pedal and a dunlop cry baby
All recorded on a zoom r8
The mic was a Behringer C1 condensor
Drums and bass were a backer

Cheers for listening
comments welcome

Farrell Jackson

No disrespect or being overly critical but it sounds like the lead guitar and vocals are sitting on top of the mix and not in it. I'm not sure how else to say it but your performances are good but the mix needs some finesse. A little more mix details and this will rock!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Nice one Ian, some nice guitar work, as Farrell said the vox sounds separate ...
But that's just mixing, your playing is spot on..
well done, and thanks for sharing......

You absolutely NAIL that solo. Great guitar tone too - I'd have sworn you were plugged into a big black box with "MARSHALL" written on the front! And I'm a sucker for the old Cry Baby tone... brilliant stuff! I would agree with the previous comments about the mix though. Having said that... the performances (ie the bit that counts) are first class!

Excellent performance Ian !!! Stellar guitarwork, and you've got that free-floating vocal that Phil did so brilliantly as well !!

Well done !

Gotta agree with Farrell.
You play this faultlessly & your vocals are fine. It's just the mix.
If you don't mind me saying, the backing track doesn't do you justice.
The bass is too booming & the drums sound like they're being played in another room.

It's a valiant try & much better than I could do, I just don't think it showcases you as it should.
Sorry.

Greeny

Agree with the production-related comments, but as everyone also agrees, your guitar work is out of the park on this. A brilliant performance.
