My take.

I used one of my finished-except-for-words backers and then made the words fit; I've played fast and loose with the words to some extent, so apologies to those contributors.

You & Me
You and Me for want of a better title
music: Nick
words: Songcrafters far and wide
Overdrive - Distortion - Hyperactivity
Yesterdays shatter, tomorrows don't matter

Wow Nick - I've loving this LACII mini-fest - all these styles from a single set of lyrics. Brilliant, very OMD to my ears. I love the interjection of the spoken lyrics brilliant. Super big production.
Love it.

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

Takes me back to the early '80s... Kraftwerk and bands like that. Don't usually go for all that synth-y stuff but this is excellent work!

Thanks for the comments, all.  Here's how the lyrics ended up.

Falling back
through the memories
Hoping for
a soft landing
Staring out
at the tumble weeds
...
remembering it all

[chorus]

just some levity
how simple it could be

Was there a time -
 before you and me?

[spoken]

before I stumble and fall:
just some levity
A reminder of
how simple it could be

I woke up
at 5 am
to the song
of the siren
Looking for
the soft landing
Could you be
so demanding?

and the world
is a cruel place
don't expect
a soft landing
or a smile
on every face
...we're all
losing the race

[chorus]

[spoken]
She looked at me and said
You're like a piece of crystal meth
Nothing but trouble; eating inside my head
furthering my fall
I'm just fooling myself
Just say no, no, no!
[Screaming from the radio]

[chorus]

Was there a time -
before you and me? [repeat to fade]
Overdrive - Distortion - Hyperactivity
Yesterdays shatter, tomorrows don't matter

Very 80's retro Nick, when synths ruled the world. You did excellent at putting the lyric to song!

Love everything about this, the retro sound, the quality of the recording, effects on voices, use of the LAC lyrics is great, makes sense to change them as you have. I like your tunes Nick!
